The campanula, also known as the bellflower originated from southern Europe. The name campanula is Latin for 'bell'. There are over 500 species and subspecies and they're widely cultivated in North American and other European countries. It is known as one of the most beautiful flowers with a unique shape that is similar to a bell with blossoms usually white, pink/rose, blue and purple.
Folklore says that fairies planted bellflower blossoms to trap people (especially children) in their path.
